Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Accounting
The AVP of Accounting supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and leads the daily operations of the Accounting Department. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate fiscal records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements, and supporting the organizations strategic financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
Manage accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
Oversee compliance with GAAP and relevant federal/state regulations.
Support internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations.
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes; track and report variances.
Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and interest rate risk assumptions.
Maintain financial policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
Analyze profitability by department, line of business, and system.
Strategic and Executive Support
Assist CFO with strategic planning, investment analysis, and implementation of financial initiatives.
Prepare financial presentations and ad hoc reports for executive leadership and board-level review.
Conduct financial modeling, risk assessments, and decision support analysis.
Team Supervision
Directly supervise and mentor accounting staff; provide training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
