The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09/GS-10 with a full performance level of GS-12. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. This recruitment is open to current UIC 68438 employees with experience at or equivalent to the: GS-10: GS-10 or WG-11(or higher) equivalent level experience demonstrating the ability to inspect and/or repair structural components and/or preservation systems (e.g., shipfitting, welding, metalworking, painting, and associated structural trades). GS-09: GS-09 or WG-10 (or higher) equivalent level experience demonstrating the ability to inspect and/or repair structural components and/or preservation systems (e.g., shipfitting, welding, metalworking, painting, and associated structural trades).
