The County of Yolo’s Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is recruiting to fill multiple regular, full time Service Center Administrative Specialist positions in the Service Center branch. These positions may be assigned to any of the Agency’s service center locations, including Woodland, West Sacramento, Davis, and Winters.
Incumbents must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as be a good team player, work well in a fast-paced environment, and be culturally sensitive to the customers we serve.
The ideal candidate will have above average customer service skills, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and be flexible and adaptable. Candidates fluent in Spanish, in addition to English preferred.

Under general supervision, performs responsible clerical and public referral program support functions, including assisting applicants with applications, performing initial application screening interviews, gathering and verifying facts and information, and initiating cases in an automated system.
The Service Centers Administrative Specialist class is a specialized clerical classification used within the Service Centers Branch of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA). Incumbents have primary responsibility for initial community benefits and referrals application screening interviews and related functions, in addition to the performance of other responsible clerical and administrative support functions, including explaining policies and procedures, and making appropriate referrals for community benefits, internal resources and referrals programs.
The Service Centers Administrative Specialist class is distinguished from the Administrative Clerk series in that the Service Centers Administrative Specialist performs initial community benefits and referrals program application review and interviews, in addition to other non-public assistance customer service duties typically performed by Administrative Clerks. The Service Centers Administrative Specialist is further distinguished from the Public Assistance Specialist class series in that Public Assistance Specialists determine initial and continuing eligibility, authorize aid payments, initiate case changes, perform in-depth interactive interviewing, and apply their knowledge of extensive multiple aid programs.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Education: Equivalent to completion of thirty (30) semester units from an accredited college or university; OR
Experience: One (1) year of full-time paid work experience determining eligibility for loans, financial assistance, unemployment or veterans benefits or eligibility for health, counseling or social services in a public or privately financed agency; OR
Experience: One (1) year performing work for a public agency at a level comparable to the Yolo County class of Administrative Clerk II.

Verification of Education
Acceptable forms of educational documentation are official or unofficial transcripts that list the student’s name, institution name, field of study and date the degree was awarded.
For recent graduates who have not received proof of their degree yet, a letter from the registrar’s office stating that all requirements for graduation have been met and listing the field of study will be sufficient proof of graduation.
Please do not send originals; copies of the required documents are acceptable. Any submitted documents will not be returned.
All foreign transcripts or diplomas must be in English. If the institution does not provide these documents in English, the applicant will need to provide a translation which has been done by a professional agency. The County of Yolo will accept education as equivalent to U.S. accreditation from Institutions that are listed as members of the International Association of Universities. Applicants who possess a degree or completed coursework that is not from an accredited college or university, must submit one of the following:
1. A written statement from a U.S accredited university or college that states that the applicant is qualified for entrance to a program of graduate studies for which a degree in a related field is required.
2. An evaluation of the applicant’s degree and coursework equivalency by a private organization that provides foreign credential evaluation services. The evaluation must include a comparison of comparable U.S. courses for content, credit and grade.
Note: Foreign language documents must include a precise word-for-word English translation of all foreign language documents. It is the responsibility of each applicant to prove to the satisfaction of the County that the applicant meets the specific requirements listed on the job announcement for each specific examination. The following is a list of private organizations that provide foreign credential evaluation services. Fees range from $50 to $400 per document; processing times vary from 5-20 business days.
