Salary and Benefits
Salary Range:
$6,729 to $8,475 monthly

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Age: Must be at least 21 at the time of hire.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to attain citizenship within 18 months of hire.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Drivers License: Valid license required with a good driving record.
Character: Must demonstrate moral integrity, empathy, honesty, and loyalty.
Physical and Medical Standards: Must meet all required standards.
Certification: Ability to obtain DPSST Basic Police Certification within 18 months of employment.
Hiring Process
Step 1:
Register and complete the National Testing Network (NTN) exams, including the Law Enforcement Frontline test.
Minimum passing scores: Video 65%, Writing 70%, Reading 70%.
ORPAT scores of 5:30 or better are required and may be submitted if taken within the last 12 months.
Step 2:
Submit a City of Hillsboro application along with NTN and ORPAT scores.
Step 3:
Applications are reviewed, and qualified candidates are invited for further evaluations, including oral board interviews, extensive background checks, and executive staff interviews.
Step 4:
Conditional offers of employment are extended to selected candidates, contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
Disqualifiers
Driving Record:
Two or more moving violations or chargeable collisions in the last three years.
DUI conviction within three years or a license suspension within the past three years.
Integrity:
Misrepresentation or omission of facts during the application process.
Previous acts of dishonesty or falsification in law enforcement or public service roles.
Criminal History:
Felony convictions or misdemeanors involving domestic violence.
Drug Use:
Use of hallucinogenic drugs within five years of application.
Other illegal drug use within five years.
