Prepare test specimens to support high precision coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and coefficient of moisture expansion (CME) testing
Setup, often delicate test specimens for CTE measurements using an interferometer measurement system
Setup, often delicate test specimens for CME measurements using an autocollimator based measurement system
Aligns, troubleshoots, adjusts, tests, and maintains laser components, sub-assemblies, systems and associated support equipment
Support setup and execution of both component and structure level thermal distortion testing
Performs inspection, cleaning and troubleshooting of laser optical components
Machine and/or hand lap composite or metallic surfaces to meet strict flatness and parallelism requirements
Measure physical properties (dimension and/or mass) of composite test specimens
Interface with computer based disquisition system
Operate and monitor thermal or thermal vacuum chambers
Maintaining clean and organized laboratory environment to maintain optical integrity
Uses hand and small power tools, and various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree or a 2 year Technical Degree in related discipline
Experience with interferometers or other optical metrology system
Experience with autocollimator or other optical metrology system
Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word and Excel) to document results
Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions in English
Ability to work under limited supervision
Ability to be on feet for up to 9 hours each day
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed based on demanding manufacturing schedules
