Engineering Technician Full Time

Basic Qualification Requirements for the Engineering Technician GS-0802-07/08: Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. Minimum Qualifications for the Engineering Technician GS-0802-07: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience contributing to engineering and manufacturing interventions to reduce worker exposure to occupational hazards through the use of computerized material manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printers and drafting skills (i.e., AutoCad or Solidworks).

One (1) full year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Engineering Technician GS-0802-08: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, to include experience developing engineering interventions to reduce worker exposure to occupational hazards, and using both computerized and manual material manufacturing techniques such as 3D printers, lathes, CNC equipment, metal and wood working tools, 3D digital design, and fabrication (i.e., AutoCad or Solidworks). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
