Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator (Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic) without more than normal supervision. Such work includes demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment to safely push and grade or load and relocate materials, establish ditches on roadways, and clear brush and performing basic maintenance on such equipment.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT:The work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, crouching and uncomfortable positions for long periods. Works on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Required to lift heavy items (70 lbs.) and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices, sometimes required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. WORKING CONDITIONS:Works both inside and outside, frequently exposed to dust, changing temperatures, noise, bad weather, in mud or snow, in wet or icy areas. Exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, grease, heat, and fumes. Subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock and injuries from falls. Required to follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as protective mask, ear devices, hard hats, safety shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods.
